The words “financial planning” may not sound very exciting but here at Rising Tide we will tell you otherwise. Whilst money and finances often gets thrown in the “too hard basket” for many families, the reality is that when it comes to your finances, effective and strategic planning is the key to living a happy and fulfilling life.
“But money doesn’t buy happiness” you might say!
We agree that money alone doesn’t equal happiness and we certainly don’t believe that you need to be a millionaire to enjoy life. What we do believe in however is that effective money management will give you the freedom to “say yes” to the good things in life (it’s no coincidence that our mantra here at RT is that very phrase: “the freedom to say yes”).
Proper financial planning means that you are free to say yes to that overseas holiday, yes to buying your own home and yes to a financially secure and enjoyable retirement.
So what does financial planning involve? Here’s a quick overview:
In order to put together an effective financial plan it’s important for us to understand your own personal life goals. Like anything in life, if you have a clear idea of where you want to get to you can identify the steps needed to get there. Some of the common goals our clients identify in our initial meetings include:
The Road to success
Once we have your goals worked out it’s our job to map out a path for you to get there. We look at things like:
- Your income
- Tax obligations
- Debt, bills and other regular repayments
- Desired retirement age
We then take care of all of the above along with taking into consideration your own individual circumstances to map out a plan for you to execute.
A marathon not a sprint
Effective financial planning isn’t about getting rich quickly (and you should be aware of any financial professional promising otherwise). We like to view effective financial planning as a marathon (not a sprint) where you make the right decisions along the way so that you finish well!
